XTV Ultra
An IPTV player for TV, tablet and phone that organises a user's own playlist into live TV, a guide, movies and series, plus the website that sells it.
Overview
XTV Ultra is an IPTV player. Users bring their own playlist (M3U), and the app turns it into live TV with a programme guide, catch-up, movies and series, with profiles, downloads and a premium plan. The project covers the apps for TV, tablet and phone and the product’s website.
My role
UX Designer. I designed the app experience on each device and the website that explains and sells it.
Design approach
- A hub that makes sense of a raw playlist. The TV hub groups content into lists such as top movies, best rated and upcoming, with catch-up TV underneath.
- Long waits are explained. Loading a large playlist can take time, so a notice shows the progress and asks people not to close the app.
- Familiar media patterns. Season tabs, episode cards with progress, and cast rows, with ratings and trailers on every title.
- Gestures for the phone player. A guide shows brightness and volume swipes, double tap to rewind or skip, and press and hold for double speed.
- Downloads and plans where they’re needed. Download buttons sit on titles and episodes. The plan screen compares monthly and annual premium.
- A website that teaches. Feature pages explain one capability at a time, and tutorials switch between TV, tablet and mobile instructions.
