Ekkl
A family streaming service on TV, web, mobile and tablet, with movies, series, podcasts, a Kids profile and a guided devotional player.
Overview
Ekkl is a family streaming service built on the MwareTV platform, on TV, the web, mobile and tablet. It offers movies, series and podcasts behind personal profiles, including a Kids profile with its own home. It also has “Rhythm”, a guided devotional player that moves through steps such as Still, Word and Declare, with a choice of voice.
My role
UX Designer. I designed the experience across the platforms.
Design approach
- One structure, three inputs. Hero, rails and detail pages work the same everywhere. On TV the menu is a side rail that opens as a drawer; on the web it is a top bar; on mobile a bottom bar.
- Profiles first. Choosing a profile comes before home, and the Kids profile switches to a brighter, character-led home and catalogue.
- Detail pages that keep people browsing. Movie pages show cast and crew and “customers also watched” alongside play, trailer and add to list.
- Audio has its own patterns. Podcast pages list episodes with search, sort and progress, and the player can switch between video and audio.
- Guided listening. The Rhythm player shows the current and next step and lets the listener choose a male or female voice.
Key responsibilities
- Cross-platform structure for TV, web, mobile and tablet
- TV focus states and the side-menu drawer
- Profile selection and the Kids experience
- General and details pages for each content type
- Main players for each content type
- Search on each platform
