Overview
MwareMusic is a music streaming app available on every platform (TV, web, mobile and tablet): a home of playlists and podcasts, album and artist pages, and a player with lyrics, a karaoke mode and auto-mix, which blends one song into the next.
My role
Product Designer. I designed the app’s structure and the listening experience across platforms.
Design approach
- Named actions instead of icons alone. The player puts karaoke, lyrics and tracks as labelled buttons next to the transport controls, which reads better from a sofa.
- Karaoke as its own space. Karaoke mode clears the screen to the current line, with the sung words lit and the rest dimmed.
- Confirm modes quietly. Turning auto-mix on shows a short notice explaining what it does, without stopping the music.
- Every track has the same options. On TV and mobile the same set appears: play, karaoke, lyrics, add to playlist, download.
- Artists and albums as hubs. Artist pages separate popular tracks, discography and “fans also like”.
